Kitchen fitters in Berkshire
We fit kitchens across Berkshire: kitchens you have bought from any supplier, or complete kitchens we design, supply and fit, with every trade booked in the right order. In an Edwardian terrace, a common project is knocking the kitchen through to the dining room and adding a run of tall units. Newer homes more often need a like-for-like replacement, sometimes with an island, integrated appliances and better lighting where the room allows.
Kitchens in homes across Berkshire
Typical properties here include Victorian and Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis, post-war estate houses and new-build town houses. Edwardian terraces often have a long galley running back from the dining room, while newer three-storey town houses usually have a compact kitchen on the ground floor.
Expect hard water in most of Berkshire, much of it drawn from chalk, so limescale on taps is common and a boiling water tap benefits from a filter. Busy town-centre streets and permit parking zones can make unloading slow, so a parking permit or bay suspension may need arranging before delivery day.
Rules for kitchen work in Berkshire
Fitting a new kitchen does not need planning permission in England. Listed building consent may be needed if the building is listed, and a new vent through the outside wall of a flat may need planning permission and the freeholder's consent. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and new circuits or a new consumer unit are notifiable under Part P, so they are certified through a competent person scheme or building control. New extraction should be designed to Approved Document F rates (about 30 litres per second for a hood ducted outside), a refit should not leave ventilation worse than before, and only Gas Safe registered engineers may connect a gas hob.
A new extractor vent on a street-facing wall can need permission in a conservation area, and listed homes may need consent for internal changes affecting historic features.

Questions about kitchen fitting in Berkshire
How much does kitchen fitting cost in Berkshire?
Fitting a medium kitchen you have already bought costs around £2,900 to £4,000 including VAT in Berkshire, based on prices in the South East. A mid-range kitchen supplied and fitted costs around £20,500 to £40,000. Your price is fixed in writing after a free survey visit.
Which towns in Berkshire do you cover?
We cover the whole of Berkshire, including Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Wokingham and Newbury. If your town is not listed, send us your postcode.
Do you remove the old kitchen?
Yes. Removing the old kitchen is usually part of the job: units, worktops, appliances and, where agreed, old tiles. Gas is capped by a Gas Safe registered engineer and circuits made safe by an electrician first. Waste and packaging go through licensed waste routes, and removal is shown as its own line in your quote.
How long does it take to fit a kitchen?
Usually three to twelve days on site: three to five for a small kitchen, five to eight for a medium one and eight to twelve for a large one. Stone worktops are fitted about one to two weeks after templating, and new plaster needs three to six weeks to dry before full decorating.
