Kitchen fitters in Ayrshire
We fit kitchens across Ayrshire: kitchens you have bought from any supplier, or complete kitchens we design, supply and fit, with every trade booked in the right order. A four-in-a-block flat usually has a narrow galley, where a well-planned layout with tall storage makes the most of it. Sandstone villa kitchens often sit in former sculleries, and opening into the dining room needs a building warrant if the wall is load-bearing.
Kitchens in homes across Ayrshire
Typical properties here include red sandstone villas, sandstone tenement flats, four-in-a-block flats and post-war council-built houses. Four-in-a-block flats and ex-council houses often have a small galley kitchen, while sandstone villas in Ayr tend to have a larger kitchen with a separate dining room.
Ayrshire's mains water is soft, so limescale is rarely a problem and taps, sinks and boiling water taps tend to stay cleaner. Upper four-in-a-block flats usually have their own stair, and coastal towns can have limited parking, so the route for long worktops is checked at the survey.
Rules for kitchen work in Ayrshire
In Scotland, replacing kitchen fitments, adding an extractor fan and most electrical work in a house do not need a building warrant, but the work must still meet the building standards and BS 7671, so ask for an Electrical Installation Certificate. Removing a load-bearing wall or changing how waste water is discharged needs a warrant first. Gas hobs must be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Every home in Scotland must have an interlinked heat alarm in the kitchen, so it is kept or refitted, and tested, as part of the job.
Listed sandstone villas and conservation areas in older town centres may need consent for a new external vent, and flat owners may need neighbours' agreement for shared walls.

Questions about kitchen fitting in Ayrshire
How much does kitchen fitting cost in Ayrshire?
Fitting a medium kitchen you have already bought costs around £2,400 to £3,300 including VAT in Ayrshire, based on prices in Scotland. A mid-range kitchen supplied and fitted costs around £16,900 to £33,000. Your price is fixed in writing after a free survey visit.
Which towns in Ayrshire do you cover?
We cover the whole of Ayrshire, including Kilmarnock, Ayr, Irvine and Kilwinning. We do not currently cover Arran or Cumbrae. If your town is not listed, send us your postcode.
What if there is asbestos in my kitchen?
Homes built before 2000 may contain asbestos, for example in textured ceiling coatings, old floor tiles, some boiler cupboard boards and bitumen pads under old steel sinks. If your home is that age, an asbestos survey before strip-out is sensible. If asbestos is suspected or found, that area is left undisturbed until it has been tested and dealt with properly.
Do you remove the old kitchen?
Yes. Removing the old kitchen is usually part of the job: units, worktops, appliances and, where agreed, old tiles. Gas is capped by a Gas Safe registered engineer and circuits made safe by an electrician first. Waste and packaging go through licensed waste routes, and removal is shown as its own line in your quote.
