Local homes and their kitchens
You will find Victorian terraces, stone cottages, seaside bungalows and post-war council-built houses throughout Clwyd. Terraced houses in Wrexham and Rhyl often have a narrow back kitchen, while bungalows along the coast tend to have a compact square kitchen.
Hill villages, farm tracks and coastal flats without lifts can complicate deliveries, so the route for long worktops is checked when the kitchen is surveyed. Hardness varies across Clwyd, so check with your supplier; where water is softer, taps and boiling water taps suffer much less limescale.
Building regulations, electrics and gas in Rhyl
In Wales a fit-only kitchen needs no planning permission, though a listed building may need listed building consent. The electrics are where Wales differs: extending an existing circuit within a kitchen is notifiable under Part P, as are new circuits, so even an extra socket for an appliance is certified through a competent person scheme or building control. Gas hobs are connected by Gas Safe registered engineers only, and extraction should meet Approved Document F.
A straightforward kitchen fit needs no planning permission, though listed buildings and conservation areas in older towns and villages may need consent for a new external vent.
Practical advice for Rhyl homeowners
- Book the fit for a date after the full delivery has arrived in Clwyd; a split delivery is a common reason for a fit stalling halfway.
- Before your kitchen is delivered to your Rhyl home, clear a dry room to store the boxes flat, away from damp garages and outbuildings.
- Leave appliance manuals in their boxes; they give the housing sizes and ventilation gaps needed to install each appliance correctly in your Rhyl kitchen.
- If you chose stone worktops, the stone supplier templates and fits them after the base units are fixed, usually one to two weeks later.
Questions about fit-only kitchen fitting in Rhyl
How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Rhyl?
Fit-only kitchen fitting in Rhyl typically costs £1,400 to £2,300 including VAT for a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units, based on prices in Wales. Larger or more involved jobs cost more, and your price is fixed in writing after a free survey visit.
Which parts of Rhyl do you work in?
All of them. Our Clwyd coverage takes in the whole of Rhyl, including the LL18 postcode district, as well as surrounding towns such as Prestatyn. If you are unsure, send us your postcode.
Do I need to order anything extra for a fit-only job?
Often, yes. Retail plans regularly leave out filler panels, end panels, plinths, cornice or light rail, legs and plinth clips, worktop joint strips or connector bolts, appliance door-fixing kits and the sink, tap and waste. On the survey we go through your order line by line and list anything missing, so it can be ordered before the fit rather than halting it halfway through.
What happens if parts of my kitchen are missing or damaged?
Missing or damaged parts are the supplier's to replace. We check the delivery against your plan and delivery note before fitting starts and tell you straight away if anything is short, broken or wrong, so you can raise it with the supplier while we re-plan the order of work. Units that do not depend on the missing part can often still go in, and sealed boxes make any claim simpler.
Should I unpack my kitchen before the fitter arrives?
No. Leave everything in its packaging until fitting day. Sealed boxes protect doors and panels from knocks and dust, keep small parts with the right unit, and show that any damage happened before delivery. We open and check the boxes against the plan as the fit begins. The one exception is anything your supplier asks you to inspect on delivery, which you should check and report within their deadline.
