Kitchen fitters in the Highlands
We fit kitchens across the Highlands: kitchens you have bought from any supplier, or complete kitchens we design, supply and fit, with every trade booked in the right order. Many rural Highland homes are off the gas grid, so the kitchen may be planned around induction, LPG or an oil-fired range. Crofthouses and older cottages tend to have thick walls and small windows that shape the layout and lighting.
Kitchens in homes across the Highlands
Typical properties here include stone crofthouses, Victorian villas, post-war council-built houses and timber-framed kit houses. Older crofthouses often have a small kitchen in a lean-to, while Victorian villas in Inverness and Nairn tend to have separate kitchens with room to open up.
Mains water across the Highlands is soft, though many remote homes rely on private supplies, which may need testing and filtering before a boiling water tap goes in. Long distances, single-track roads and winter weather can affect delivery and fitting days, so lead times and worktop lengths need planning well in advance.
Rules for kitchen work in the Highlands
In Scotland, replacing kitchen fitments, adding an extractor fan and most electrical work in a house do not need a building warrant, but the work must still meet the building standards and BS 7671, so ask for an Electrical Installation Certificate. Removing a load-bearing wall or changing how waste water is discharged needs a warrant first. Gas hobs must be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Every home in Scotland must have an interlinked heat alarm in the kitchen, so it is kept or refitted, and tested, as part of the job.
Homes in the Cairngorms National Park, listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent for a new external vent or changes to historic features.

Questions about kitchen fitting in the Highlands
How much does kitchen fitting cost in the Highlands?
Fitting a medium kitchen you have already bought costs around £2,400 to £3,300 including VAT in the Highlands, based on prices in Scotland. A mid-range kitchen supplied and fitted costs around £16,900 to £33,000. Your price is fixed in writing after a free survey visit.
Which towns in the Highlands do you cover?
We cover the whole of the Highlands, including Inverness, Fort William, Nairn, Thurso, Wick and Alness. We do not currently cover Skye or the other islands. If your town is not listed, send us your postcode.
Do you remove the old kitchen?
Yes. Removing the old kitchen is usually part of the job: units, worktops, appliances and, where agreed, old tiles. Gas is capped by a Gas Safe registered engineer and circuits made safe by an electrician first. Waste and packaging go through licensed waste routes, and removal is shown as its own line in your quote.
Who carries out the work?
You have one contract with Kitchen Installers UK and one point of contact. The fitting is done by kitchen fitters working under our management, and the specialist work by qualified trades: Gas Safe registered engineers for any gas work, electricians who test and certify their work to BS 7671, and plumbers, tilers and plasterers, each booked in the right order.
