Hob and oven installation in Belfast
Our hob and oven installation service covers Belfast and nearby places such as Castlereagh and Newtownabbey, with a free survey visit and an itemised written quote as the first step.

Why hob and oven installation for a Belfast home?
A new kitchen layout in Belfast sometimes puts the hob on an island or another wall, so gas pipework or a cooker circuit has to follow it to the new position.
Families in Belfast adding a double oven may find the existing circuit is not rated for it, so planning the electrics early avoids a delay on fitting day. Homes right across Belfast are covered, as are nearby places such as Castlereagh, Newtownabbey and the villages in between.
What is included in the work?
Your written quote lists everything included. For hob and oven installation, that normally means:
- Built-in single and double ovens fixed into housings with their ventilation gaps
- Appliance models checked against worktop cut-outs, oven housings and existing supplies
- Old hob or oven disconnected safely and taken away for recycling
- Induction and ceramic hobs wired to a suitable cooker circuit and tested
- Gas supply moved to a new hob position, with pipework tested and made good
- Gas hobs and cookers connected and tightness tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer

Use these ranges to plan your budget. They include VAT, reflect costs in Northern Ireland, and are firmed up once we have seen your Belfast kitchen. Labour rates in Northern Ireland are generally lower than in London and the South East, so these ranges are a little below the national guide.

Local homes and their kitchens
You will find red-brick terraces, Victorian villas, post-war estate houses and rural bungalows throughout County Antrim. Red-brick terraces in Belfast often have a narrow kitchen in the return, while estate houses and rural bungalows tend to have a separate kitchen with room for a table.
Terraced streets with entries at the back, city flats with booked lifts and country lanes can each affect deliveries, so the route for worktops is checked at the survey. Mains water across most of County Antrim is soft, so limescale is less of a problem and taps and boiling water taps tend to stay cleaner.
Regulations for kitchen work in Belfast
Gas Safe registration applies in Northern Ireland too, so only a registered engineer may connect or move a gas hob, cooker or gas pipe. There is no Part P-style notification for domestic electrics, but a new cooker circuit for an induction hob or double oven should be designed, installed and tested to BS 7671, and you should receive a certificate for it.
Listed buildings and conservation areas in older parts of Belfast and the county towns may need consent for new vents, and apartment owners usually need management consent.
Before you book hob and oven installation in Belfast
- If your Belfast home has an open-flued gas appliance, mention it at the survey, because any new extraction above the hob will need a spillage test.
- Confirm whether your new oven sits under the worktop or in a tall housing, because the ventilation and fixing requirements differ between the two.
- Ask the Gas Safe engineer for a record of the work and keep it with your home documents, especially if you let a property in County Antrim.
- Measure the oven housing against the installation dimensions, including the ventilation gaps at the back or base that the manufacturer requires.
Questions about hob and oven installation in Belfast
How much does hob and oven installation cost in Belfast?
Guide prices in Belfast are about £110 to £260 including VAT for connecting a gas hob to an existing supply. The final price depends on the size of the kitchen and what is moving, and is set out in an itemised written quote.
Which parts of Belfast do you work in?
All of them. Our County Antrim coverage takes in the whole of Belfast, including the BT1, BT2, BT3, BT4, BT5 and BT6 postcode districts, as well as surrounding towns such as Castlereagh. If you are unsure, send us your postcode.
Do built-in ovens need ventilation?
Yes. Built-in ovens release heat, and their installation instructions set the gaps and openings the housing must leave, often at the back or beneath the oven. Blocking them can overheat the surrounding units and the oven's own controls. An oven under the worktop and one in a tall housing have different requirements, so we check the instructions for your model before fitting.
Who is allowed to connect a gas hob?
By law, anyone who carries out gas work for payment must be on the Gas Safe Register, in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and anyone working on gas must be competent to do it. We only use Gas Safe registered engineers, and we strongly advise against fitting a gas hob yourself. The engineer connects the hob, tests the installation for tightness, checks the burners and the room's ventilation, and leaves the appliance safe to use. You can ask to see the engineer's Gas Safe ID card before work starts.
Why does a range cooker need a stability bracket?
Because a range cooker can tip forward if weight is put on an open oven door, which could damage the gas connection or injure someone. Gas and dual-fuel models are secured with a stability bracket or chain to the wall or floor behind, as the manufacturer specifies, and the cooker is levelled on a firm floor so its doors close properly and pans sit flat.
