Who usually needs fit-only kitchen fitting in Dundee?

If your kitchen is ordered for delivery to your Dundee home and the retailer does not offer fitting, fit only covers the labour to put it in properly.

Some Dundee households have a kitchen waiting in a spare room after a fitter dropped out, and need the boxes checked and the fit planned again from the start. Kitchens in every part of Dundee are covered, and the survey visit is free wherever you are in Dundee and Angus.

  • Delivery checked against the plan and delivery note before fitting starts

What does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Dundee?

The figures below are guide prices for Dundee, including VAT and adjusted for typical costs across Scotland. The fixed price comes after we have measured up. Prices in Scotland usually come in below the national guide, as labour rates are lower than in the South East.

Local homes and their kitchens

In and around Dundee, homes range across sandstone tenement flats, Victorian villas, post-war council-built houses and fishing town cottages. Dundee's tenement flats often have a narrow kitchen or a box room off the hall, while villas in Broughty Ferry and the Angus towns tend to have larger separate kitchens.

Dundee and Angus have soft mains water, so limescale is rarely an issue and taps and boiling water taps tend to stay free of heavy scale. Common stairs in tenements, steep streets in parts of Dundee and narrow glen roads in Angus can each affect deliveries and worktop lengths.

Building regulations, electrics and gas in Dundee

In Scotland, fitting kitchen units you have bought does not need a building warrant, and nor does most electrical work in a house, but the work must still meet the building standards and BS 7671. Ask the electrician for an Electrical Installation Certificate or Minor Works Certificate. Gas hobs and cookers must be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and the kitchen should keep extract ventilation that meets standard 3.14.

Consent may be needed for new vents on listed buildings and in conservation areas, and homes in the upper Angus glens fall within the Cairngorms National Park.

Worth knowing before the fit

  • If you buy a worktop for a Dundee kitchen yourself, check its length covers the longest run plus enough spare for joints and end trims.
  • Photograph each pallet and any damaged box as it arrives at your Dundee address, and note the damage on the delivery note before the driver leaves.
  • Order handles in the right quantity with one or two spares; doors and drawers cannot be finished without them, and missing handles hold up sign-off.
  • If you chose stone worktops, the stone supplier templates and fits them after the base units are fixed, usually one to two weeks later.

Questions about fit-only kitchen fitting in Dundee

How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Dundee?

For a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units, budget around £1,400 to £2,400 including VAT in Dundee. That reflects typical costs in Scotland; we confirm the actual figure in writing once we have measured up.

Which parts of Dundee do you work in?

All of them. Our Dundee and Angus coverage takes in the whole of Dundee, including the DD1 postcode district, as well as surrounding towns such as St Andrews. If you are unsure, send us your postcode.

Should I unpack my kitchen before the fitter arrives?

No. Leave everything in its packaging until fitting day. Sealed boxes protect doors and panels from knocks and dust, keep small parts with the right unit, and show that any damage happened before delivery. We open and check the boxes against the plan as the fit begins. The one exception is anything your supplier asks you to inspect on delivery, which you should check and report within their deadline.

What does fit-only kitchen fitting not include?

It does not include stone worktops, new electrical circuits, moved plumbing, gas connections, tiling, flooring or plastering. Stone is templated and fitted by the stone supplier or fabricator once the base units are fixed. Fit only covers the labour for units, doors, panels, plinths and laminate worktops, with connections to the points already in place. Any of the extras can be added as separate lines on the same written quote.

What happens if parts of my kitchen are missing or damaged?

Missing or damaged parts are the supplier's to replace. We check the delivery against your plan and delivery note before fitting starts and tell you straight away if anything is short, broken or wrong, so you can raise it with the supplier while we re-plan the order of work. Units that do not depend on the missing part can often still go in, and sealed boxes make any claim simpler.
