Kitchen installation in Caernarfon

What prompts kitchen installation in Caernarfon?

Landlords and sellers across Gwynedd often fit a new kitchen because it is one of the first rooms buyers and tenants judge a home by.

If the kitchen in your Caernarfon home is twenty years old, with tired doors and worn worktops, a full installation renews everything in one planned job. We work throughout Caernarfon (LL55) and across the wider Gwynedd area.

What does kitchen installation in Caernarfon include?

Every kitchen is different, so we confirm the scope in writing. Most jobs of this kind include:

First-fix electrics and plumbing for the new layout
Removal and disposal of the old kitchen, with gas and electrics made safe
Sink, tap and integrated appliances fitted and connected
Worktops cut, jointed and sealed, or templated for stone
Panels, plinths, cornice, splashback and a final check before handover
Base, wall and tall units fixed, levelled and secured to the wall

Kitchens in homes around Caernarfon

Across Gwynedd you will often find slate and stone cottages, quarry town terraces, farmhouses and seaside bungalows, and each shapes the kitchen differently. Quarry-town terraces and stone cottages often have a small back kitchen or lean-to, while bungalows on Anglesey and the coast tend to have a simple square kitchen.

Gwynedd's mains water is soft, so limescale is rarely an issue and taps, sinks and boiling water taps stay cleaner for longer. Mountain roads, narrow village streets and Anglesey addresses reached over the Menai bridges can affect delivery vehicles, so timing and worktop lengths are planned ahead.

What rules apply to kitchen installation in Caernarfon?

In Wales, fitting a kitchen does not need planning permission, though a listed building may need listed building consent. Part P is wider than in England: extending an existing circuit within a kitchen is notifiable, as well as new circuits and consumer units, so most kitchen electrics are certified through a competent person scheme or building control. New extraction should be designed to the Welsh Approved Document F rates, a refit should not leave ventilation worse than before, and gas work is for Gas Safe registered engineers only.

Homes inside Eryri National Park, listed cottages and conservation areas may need consent for a new external vent or changes affecting historic features.

Planning ahead

If you live in a flat in Caernarfon, check building rules on working hours, lift protection and parking for the fitting van.
Ask for appliance sizes and ventilation gaps to be checked against the housings before you buy appliances for a Caernarfon kitchen.
Before you order a kitchen for your Caernarfon home, ask for a survey so the plan is checked against real measurements, not estimates.
If the house was built before 2000, consider an asbestos survey before strip-out, especially with textured ceilings or old floor tiles.

Questions about kitchen installation in Caernarfon

How much does kitchen installation cost in Caernarfon?

Guide prices in Caernarfon are about £1,400 to £2,300 including VAT for a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units, fit only. The final price depends on the size of the kitchen and what is moving, and is set out in an itemised written quote.

Do you work near Caernarfon as well?

Yes. As well as Caernarfon itself, we cover the rest of Gwynedd and nearby towns such as Bangor, Gwynedd and Holyhead. The process is the same wherever the kitchen is.

Do I need building regulations approval for a new kitchen?

Usually only for parts of the job. Fitting units does not need approval, but new electrical circuits are notifiable in England and Wales, removing a load-bearing wall needs approval everywhere, and in Scotland structural work needs a building warrant. Gas work must always be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Can I use my kitchen during the installation?

Not for most of it. Once the old kitchen comes out there is no sink or cooker until the new one is connected, usually a week or two for an average kitchen. We plan the job so the water and power are off for as little time as possible, and we tell you which days will be the most disruptive.

Will you fit a kitchen I have bought myself?

Yes. We fit kitchens bought from any retailer, trade counter or online supplier, flat-pack or rigid. On the survey we check the plan, and before fitting we check the delivery against it. Missing or damaged parts are for the supplier to replace, and we tell you straight away so the fit can be re-planned.
