Hob and oven installation in Liverpool
From the survey to handover, hob and oven installation in Liverpool is run by us as one job, with the fitters and trades booked in the right order.

Who usually needs hob and oven installation in Liverpool?
If the oven in your Liverpool kitchen has failed, a like-for-like built-in replacement is usually a short job, provided the new model fits the existing housing.
Families in Liverpool adding a double oven may find the existing circuit is not rated for it, so planning the electrics early avoids a delay on fitting day. Our Merseyside coverage reaches every part of Liverpool (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6) and out towards Kirkdale.
What does the job involve?
The exact scope is agreed after the survey, but a typical job in Liverpool covers:
- Gas supply moved to a new hob position, with pipework tested and made good
- Gas hobs and cookers connected and tightness tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer
- Induction and ceramic hobs wired to a suitable cooker circuit and tested
- Laminate and wood worktop cut-outs made to the hob template; stone cut-outs by the fabricator
- Appliance models checked against worktop cut-outs, oven housings and existing supplies
- Range cookers levelled, with a stability bracket fitted to gas and dual-fuel models

Use these ranges to plan your budget. They include VAT, reflect costs in the North West, and are firmed up once we have seen your Liverpool kitchen. Labour rates in the North West are generally lower than in London and the South East, so these ranges are a little below the national guide.

Kitchens in homes around Liverpool
In and around Liverpool, homes range across Victorian terraces, Victorian and Edwardian villas, 1930s semis and converted warehouse flats. Two-up two-down terraces often have a small back kitchen off the living room, while 1930s semis tend to have a separate kitchen with space to open into a dining room.
Terraced streets with back entries, city-centre flats with booked lifts and permit parking zones can all affect how and when a kitchen is delivered. Merseyside's mains water is soft, so limescale is rarely a big issue and taps, sinks and boiling water taps stay cleaner for longer.
Do you need approval for hob and oven installation in Liverpool?
In England, only a Gas Safe registered engineer may fit, connect or move a gas hob, cooker or gas pipework, and the installation is tightness tested afterwards. An induction hob often needs a dedicated cooker circuit; a new circuit is notifiable under Part P, so it is certified through a competent person scheme or building control. Connecting to an existing suitable circuit is not notifiable, but it must still meet BS 7671.
Conservation areas and listed buildings are common in older parts of Liverpool and the Wirral, so a new vent on a visible wall may need consent.
Tips before you start
- Measure the gap for a range cooker at worktop height and at floor level, as older walls and thick skirting can narrow the space more than expected.
- If you are moving the hob in your Liverpool kitchen, choose the cooker hood at the same time so the extraction and ducting can follow it.
- If you are replacing an old cooker with a separate hob and oven in your Liverpool kitchen, ask for the gas supply position and condition to be checked first.
- Follow the hood and hob manufacturers' instructions on the minimum distance between them; gas hobs usually need more clearance than induction.
Questions about hob and oven installation in Liverpool
How much does hob and oven installation cost in Liverpool?
Guide prices in Liverpool are about £110 to £280 including VAT for connecting a gas hob to an existing supply. The final price depends on the size of the kitchen and what is moving, and is set out in an itemised written quote.
Which parts of Liverpool do you work in?
All of them. Our Merseyside coverage takes in the whole of Liverpool, including the L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6 postcode districts, as well as surrounding towns such as Kirkdale. If you are unsure, send us your postcode.
Does an induction hob need a new circuit?
Often, yes. Many induction hobs draw more current than an ordinary socket circuit can supply, so they are wired to a dedicated cooker circuit from the consumer unit. If you already have a cooker circuit of the right rating, the hob can usually connect to it. A new circuit is notifiable in England and Wales, and everywhere it must be tested and certified to BS 7671.
Who is allowed to connect a gas hob?
By law, anyone who carries out gas work for payment must be on the Gas Safe Register, in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and anyone working on gas must be competent to do it. We only use Gas Safe registered engineers, and we strongly advise against fitting a gas hob yourself. The engineer connects the hob, tests the installation for tightness, checks the burners and the room's ventilation, and leaves the appliance safe to use. You can ask to see the engineer's Gas Safe ID card before work starts.
Do built-in ovens need ventilation?
Yes. Built-in ovens release heat, and their installation instructions set the gaps and openings the housing must leave, often at the back or beneath the oven. Blocking them can overheat the surrounding units and the oven's own controls. An oven under the worktop and one in a tall housing have different requirements, so we check the instructions for your model before fitting.
