Fit-only kitchen fitting in Stretford

Thinking about fit-only kitchen fitting in Stretford?

If you have chosen stone worktops for a Stretford kitchen, fit only gets the base units level and fixed so they are ready when the fabricator arrives to template.

If your kitchen is ordered for delivery to your Stretford home and the retailer does not offer fitting, fit only covers the labour to put it in properly. Stretford sits about 4 miles south-west of Manchester, and our Greater Manchester coverage takes in everything in between.

Kitchens in homes around Stretford

The housing mix across Greater Manchester includes Victorian terraces, 1930s semis, converted mill and warehouse flats and post-war estate houses, so no two kitchen fits are quite alike. Two-up two-down terraces often have a small back kitchen or a galley in the rear outrigger, while 1930s semis usually have a separate kitchen beside the dining room.

Terraced streets with back alleys, city-centre flats with booked lifts and permit parking can all affect delivery timing and how long worktops are carried in. Mains water across Greater Manchester is mostly soft, so limescale is less of a problem and taps and boiling water taps tend to stay cleaner.

What rules apply to fit-only kitchen fitting in Stretford?

Fitting kitchen units you have bought needs no planning permission in England, although a listed building may need listed building consent for work that affects its character. Adding sockets or spurs to an existing kitchen circuit is not notifiable but must meet BS 7671, while a new cooker circuit is notifiable under Part P and certified through a competent person scheme or building control. Gas hobs are connected only by Gas Safe registered engineers.

Listed mill conversions and homes in conservation areas may need consent for new external vents, and apartment owners usually need the freeholder's or managing agent's consent.

Planning ahead

If you buy a worktop for a Stretford kitchen yourself, check its length covers the longest run plus enough spare for joints and end trims.
Ask your supplier for the full order list as well as the plan, so the fitter can check part numbers and not just unit sizes.
Book the fit for a date after the full delivery has arrived in Greater Manchester; a split delivery is a common reason for a fit stalling halfway.
Store the boxes flat in a dry, heated room rather than a damp garage, so doors and carcasses do not swell or warp before fitting.

Questions about fit-only kitchen fitting in Stretford

How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Stretford?

Guide prices in Stretford are about £1,400 to £2,400 including VAT for a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units. The final price depends on the size of the kitchen and what is moving, and is set out in an itemised written quote.

Can you measure up in Stretford before quoting?

Yes. Every quote starts with a free, no-obligation survey visit to your home in Stretford. We measure the room, check the walls, floor and service positions, then send an itemised written quote.

What happens if parts of my kitchen are missing or damaged?

Missing or damaged parts are the supplier's to replace. We check the delivery against your plan and delivery note before fitting starts and tell you straight away if anything is short, broken or wrong, so you can raise it with the supplier while we re-plan the order of work. Units that do not depend on the missing part can often still go in, and sealed boxes make any claim simpler.

Do I need to order anything extra for a fit-only job?

Often, yes. Retail plans regularly leave out filler panels, end panels, plinths, cornice or light rail, legs and plinth clips, worktop joint strips or connector bolts, appliance door-fixing kits and the sink, tap and waste. On the survey we go through your order line by line and list anything missing, so it can be ordered before the fit rather than halting it halfway through.

What does fit-only kitchen fitting not include?

It does not include stone worktops, new electrical circuits, moved plumbing, gas connections, tiling, flooring or plastering. Stone is templated and fitted by the stone supplier or fabricator once the base units are fixed. Fit only covers the labour for units, doors, panels, plinths and laminate worktops, with connections to the points already in place. Any of the extras can be added as separate lines on the same written quote.
