Is fit-only kitchen fitting right for your Oxfordshire kitchen?

If your kitchen is ordered for delivery to your Oxfordshire home and the retailer does not offer fitting, fit only covers the labour to put it in properly.

Landlords and small developers across Oxfordshire sometimes buy units for several properties at once and want a clear fit-only price for each kitchen they need installed.

What does fit-only kitchen fitting in Oxfordshire include?

Every kitchen is different, so we confirm the scope in writing. Most jobs of this kind include:

  • Free survey visit to check your plan, the room and the service positions
  • Delivery checked against the plan and delivery note before fitting starts
  • Base, wall and tall units positioned, levelled on their legs and fixed to the wall
  • Doors and drawer fronts hung and adjusted, with handles drilled and fitted
  • Laminate or wood worktops cut, jointed, sealed and fixed down
  • End panels, filler panels, plinths, cornice and light rail scribed and fitted
  • Sink, tap and appliances connected to the existing water, waste and power points
  • Packaging and offcuts cleared, with removal of the old kitchen available as an extra

How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Oxfordshire?

Kitchens in homes across Oxfordshire

You will find cotswold stone cottages, Victorian terraces, 1930s semis and new-build estates throughout Oxfordshire. Oxford's Victorian terraces often have a narrow galley in the back addition, while stone cottages in market towns and villages tend to have small, low-ceilinged kitchens.

Water across Oxfordshire is hard, so limescale on taps, kettles and boiling water taps is common, and a filter is worth planning in. City streets with permit parking and narrow village lanes can both slow deliveries, so parking and the carry route for worktops are checked at the survey.

Opening a back-addition kitchen into the dining room or side return is a common project in an Oxford terrace. Newer estate houses in Bicester or Didcot more often suit a supply-and-fit replacement with an island or peninsula, integrated appliances and a utility area for laundry.

Rules for fit-only kitchen fitting in Oxfordshire

Fitting kitchen units you have bought needs no planning permission in England, although a listed building may need listed building consent for work that affects its character. Adding sockets or spurs to an existing kitchen circuit is not notifiable but must meet BS 7671, while a new cooker circuit is notifiable under Part P and certified through a competent person scheme or building control. Gas hobs are connected only by Gas Safe registered engineers.

Oxford's many listed buildings and conservation areas, along with Cotswold stone villages, may need consent before a new vent is cut or historic features are removed.

Before you start

  • If you chose stone worktops, the stone supplier templates and fits them after the base units are fixed, usually one to two weeks later.
  • Check the order includes filler panels, end panels, plinths, cornice or light rail, and enough legs and plinth clips for every base unit.
  • Measure integrated appliances against the housings on the plan, including ventilation gaps, before buying them separately from the kitchen.
  • Worktop joint strips or connector bolts, appliance door-fixing kits and the sink, tap and waste are easy to leave off an order.
  • Order handles in the right quantity with one or two spares; doors and drawers cannot be finished without them, and missing handles hold up sign-off.
  • Book the fit for a date after the full delivery has arrived in Oxfordshire; a split delivery is a common reason for a fit stalling halfway.

Questions about fit-only kitchen fitting in Oxfordshire

How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Oxfordshire?

Guide prices in Oxfordshire are about £1,700 to £2,900 including VAT for a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units. The final price depends on the size of the kitchen and what is moving, and is set out in an itemised written quote.

Do you cover the whole of Oxfordshire?

Yes. We carry out fit-only kitchen fitting across Oxfordshire, including Oxford, Banbury, Abingdon and Bicester. Every job starts with a free survey visit and an itemised written quote.

What does fit-only kitchen fitting not include?

It does not include stone worktops, new electrical circuits, moved plumbing, gas connections, tiling, flooring or plastering. Stone is templated and fitted by the stone supplier or fabricator once the base units are fixed. Fit only covers the labour for units, doors, panels, plinths and laminate worktops, with connections to the points already in place. Any of the extras can be added as separate lines on the same written quote.

What happens if parts of my kitchen are missing or damaged?

Missing or damaged parts are the supplier's to replace. We check the delivery against your plan and delivery note before fitting starts and tell you straight away if anything is short, broken or wrong, so you can raise it with the supplier while we re-plan the order of work. Units that do not depend on the missing part can often still go in, and sealed boxes make any claim simpler.

Should I unpack my kitchen before the fitter arrives?

No. Leave everything in its packaging until fitting day. Sealed boxes protect doors and panels from knocks and dust, keep small parts with the right unit, and show that any damage happened before delivery. We open and check the boxes against the plan as the fit begins. The one exception is anything your supplier asks you to inspect on delivery, which you should check and report within their deadline.
