Fit-only kitchen fitting in Devizes
Fit-only kitchen fitting in Devizes starts with a free survey visit: we measure up, check the walls, floor and service positions, and explain what the job involves before anything is priced.
When does fit-only kitchen fitting make sense in Devizes?
People in Wiltshire who have bought from a trade counter often want a fitter who will check the plan against the room before any boxes are opened.
Landlords and small developers across Wiltshire sometimes buy units for several properties at once and want a clear fit-only price for each kitchen they need installed. If your home is in Devizes or close by in Melksham or Chippenham, the same survey, quote and fitting process applies.
What does fit-only kitchen fitting in Devizes include?
Here is what usually goes into fit-only kitchen fitting, adjusted to your Devizes kitchen after we have measured it:
- Laminate or wood worktops cut, jointed, sealed and fixed down
- Delivery checked against the plan and delivery note before fitting starts
- Packaging and offcuts cleared, with removal of the old kitchen available as an extra
- End panels, filler panels, plinths, cornice and light rail scribed and fitted

Kitchens in homes around Devizes
Across Wiltshire you will often find thatched and stone cottages, Victorian railway terraces, post-war estate houses and new-build estates, and each shapes the kitchen differently. Railway terraces in Swindon often have a narrow back kitchen, while stone and thatched cottages in the villages tend to have small kitchens with low ceilings.
Wiltshire's water is hard, much of it from chalk, so limescale on taps and boiling water taps is common and a filter can help. Village lanes and farm tracks can be narrow for delivery lorries, and Salisbury's historic centre has limited parking, so delivery is planned in advance.
Building regulations, electrics and gas in Devizes
Fitting kitchen units you have bought needs no planning permission in England, although a listed building may need listed building consent for work that affects its character. Adding sockets or spurs to an existing kitchen circuit is not notifiable but must meet BS 7671, while a new cooker circuit is notifiable under Part P and certified through a competent person scheme or building control. Gas hobs are connected only by Gas Safe registered engineers.
Listed thatched cottages, Salisbury's historic centre and other conservation areas may need consent for a new external vent or changes to historic features.
Planning ahead
- Ask your supplier for the full order list as well as the plan, so the fitter can check part numbers and not just unit sizes.
- Photograph each pallet and any damaged box as it arrives at your Devizes address, and note the damage on the delivery note before the driver leaves.
- If you buy a worktop for a Devizes kitchen yourself, check its length covers the longest run plus enough spare for joints and end trims.
- Worktop joint strips or connector bolts, appliance door-fixing kits and the sink, tap and waste are easy to leave off an order.
Questions about fit-only kitchen fitting in Devizes
How much does fit-only kitchen fitting cost in Devizes?
Fit-only kitchen fitting in Devizes typically costs £1,500 to £2,600 including VAT for a small kitchen of 5 to 10 units, based on prices in the South West. Larger or more involved jobs cost more, and your price is fixed in writing after a free survey visit.
Do you cover all of Devizes?
Yes. We work across Devizes, including the SN10 postcode district, and nearby towns such as Melksham and Chippenham. Book a free survey visit and we will arrange a time that suits you.
What does fit-only kitchen fitting not include?
It does not include stone worktops, new electrical circuits, moved plumbing, gas connections, tiling, flooring or plastering. Stone is templated and fitted by the stone supplier or fabricator once the base units are fixed. Fit only covers the labour for units, doors, panels, plinths and laminate worktops, with connections to the points already in place. Any of the extras can be added as separate lines on the same written quote.
Do I need to order anything extra for a fit-only job?
Often, yes. Retail plans regularly leave out filler panels, end panels, plinths, cornice or light rail, legs and plinth clips, worktop joint strips or connector bolts, appliance door-fixing kits and the sink, tap and waste. On the survey we go through your order line by line and list anything missing, so it can be ordered before the fit rather than halting it halfway through.
What happens if parts of my kitchen are missing or damaged?
Missing or damaged parts are the supplier's to replace. We check the delivery against your plan and delivery note before fitting starts and tell you straight away if anything is short, broken or wrong, so you can raise it with the supplier while we re-plan the order of work. Units that do not depend on the missing part can often still go in, and sealed boxes make any claim simpler.
